Procedure
Part A:
Sandy Beach Community

• To Answer question 1 - 12 in either the pre- lab questions or the Lab Report, use the information in "Sandy Beach Community" section of the Lab Manual. List the 6 different zones in sequence and give 2 important characteristics for each in Part A of the Lab Report.

• Utilize the sandy beach display case in the Marine Aquarium (M-130) and the Marine Life Book provided to identify organisms that lives in the sub-tidal, intertidal and supratidal zones.
• The number associated with the organism in the display case is the page number in the Marie Life book where you will find the information about your organism.
CAUTION - the pdf page number will not correspond to the book page number so be careful and make sure you are getting the correct information from the correct page.
• Fill in information about your chosen organism in Part A of the Lab Report.

Part B:
Birds in Marine Environments

• On the wall in the marine aquarium you will find mounted waterfowl.
• Select a bird to observe (your instructor may assign a specific bird so be sure to check with your instructor).
• Use the information in the Marine Life book provided to answer the questions in Part B of your Lab Report.

Part C:
Cetaceans

• You will be asked to either answer Pre-Lab questions about cetaceans or to use the chart of cetaceans on the wall in the Marine Aquarium. (M-130) to answer questions in this section.
• Using this chart and information on page 134 in the Marine Life book provided, answer the pre-lab questions or the questions in Part C of the Lab Report.

Part D:
Organisms of the North Atlantic Ocean

• Locate the charts of North American Fish and Edible Mollusks and Crustaceans in the Marine Aquarium (M-130).
• Use the chart answer questions in Part D of the Lab Report.

Part E:
Reading Maps

• Use the maps on the walls in the Marine Aquarium (M-130) to complete Part E of your Lab Report.

Part F:
Understanding Tides

• You will be asked to either answer Pre-Lab questions or questions in your lab report for this section.
• Use the Tide charts (Table 9.1) and moons in this Lab Manual to complete Part F of your lab 9 Lab Report.
